McCall Winter Carnival

With all the snow we have gotten in the valley this year, (we have hit records right and left), I am more then over this winter.  The last few years I have gone up to McCall’s Winter Carnival to enjoy the snow sculptures and take in the beauty that is McCall in the winter.  This year I wasn’t feeling it but after speaking to my friend Ashleigh who has never been I decided it could still be fun.  Monday we were both off of work so we made a day trip of it.  The roads were nice and clear even though snow covered the forest floor.  It was breathtaking to see the trees covered in snow.

Once we arrived in McCall the crowds were not bad and even though the sun wasn’t out the weather was mild.  It was fun to see all the amazing sculptures!

My favorites were the two faces and the horses pulling the logs.

This was the 100th celebration in McCall and I love that it has been going on that long!  Just a fun tradition!

Ashleigh had never walked out onto a frozen lake so while we were there it was on the must do list.  I was a little worried because where I usually walk out on the lake there was a big hole, not a good sign!  A little further down people were out walking around so we ventured out to that spot and made it safely out and back.

For lunch we stop at My Fathers Place, which is an old time burger joint.  The food was good and hit the spot!  I did miss being able to have one of their shakes, maybe someday!  Over all it was a great way to spend the day and I loved being outside.

On the way home we saw one of my favorite Troopers on SH55.  When he pulled into the gas station in Horseshoe Bend we had to stop and say hi.  Always makes my day when I get to see him!  We had to take a picture to send to his wife Kim who I just love!

I am hoping to take a few road trips to McCall this summer and hike around.  Thanks to my friend Ashleigh for talking me into going this year!   I had so much fun!

Now can it be spring??
