Since the start of the summer I have been craving getting
out on the Payette River. But with the
river running high and endless OT it felt like a lifetime before I was finally
able to go. Finally on July 1st
I was able to get out on the river with Jenn!
We went with the Cascade Raft and Kayak Company and decided to go down
the Cabarton part of the river. It was
beautiful!!
We were the only raft (there
were 9 people on our raft) from our group and trough the day we saw a few others
on the river but for the most part it was just us which was perfect! The Cabarton is away from SH55 for most of it
making it peaceful and relaxing.
I was
amazed at how many birds you could hear signing. It is an 11 miles stretch with forest on
either side of you. It also has class II
and III whitewater rapids which always adds a little bit of excitement to the
trip. It was amazing how the stress of
life just melted off me while we were out there. There is and had always been something about
being on the water that calms me. I wish
I could do it more!
Half way down we stopped and had lunch.
(are raft flipped over made a great table!)
The wild flowers around our stop with beautiful and I loved all the colors.
Near the end is a “lazy”
part of the river so most of us jumped out and relaxed in the river while it carried us down to our stop. It felt amazing!!
There were parts where we had to walk because
it was so shallow and the sand was so thick.
I am thankful that Jenn tagged along with me, love that girl!!
I can’t wait to go again!!
