Horses and Cowboys

Another then that brings me happiness is being around horses.  I have loved being around them since the first time I ever saw one.

When I was lucky enough to own my own horse I was on top of the world.  He was my best friend and I told him everything.

Someday I hope to own another one, my heart wants it more than anything.  There is something calming about being around horses, it is almost as if my soul links with their when ever I look into their big, beautiful eyes.   My saddle sits in my room, I own a cowboy hat and 90% of the time this girl wears cowboy boots.

I am a country girl at heart.   A couple weeks ago on my days of I finally made it over to my friend Cindy’s to get in a little horse time.  She had me help her let horses out to the pastures for the day, rest irrigation pipe, and feel up water buckets.  We then groomed and lunged a couple of her horses.  The first one we did in a round pen with no rope.  The second one we did in an open pasture with a long rope. After we gave each horse a bath which was fun.

I loved being in the horse world for a few hours and getting my hands dirty.  After that we took and break and caught up on life.  Before we headed to lunch we went out into the pastures and just spent time with the horses.

We even played with her little colt, he was too cute!!!  Hard to not love baby horses!!!

When I came home I noticed I smelled like horse and it just made my heart happy.  Happiness does have a smell.   I need to go out there more!

That week was also rodeo week!!  One of my favorite summer traditions is to the rodeo.  I love going on Friday nights with one of my friends and then Saturday afternoons I go with family.  Friday night I went with Jen.  And it was a good night!

Saturday I went with my friend Ashlie and meet my sister and her family there.  I was hard to not have my mom and Lynn there, we missed them!!  It was another great rodeo full of cowboys, beautiful horses, bulls, and fresh mini donuts!
