Weekend Fun

This weekend was short but good.  Friday night I meet up with my friend Nick to celebrate his birthday.  We went to one of our favorite places to eat, Texas Roadhouse!  Those rolls are to die for!  It was fun to catch up with Nick and all his life adventures.  He started working at Boise PD awhile back and so far has loved it.  Recently the show COPS was in town and Nick ended up on two calls in which the crew from the show was there.  So far I haven’t seen him on any of the Boise episodes but I keep looking!  After dinner we headed to the movie theater and watched 13 Hours.  Nick is a Marine and has been deployed multiple times so I love going to movies like this with him to get his take on things.

They did a good job on the movie and was the first movie I have seen John Krasinski (aka Jim from the Officer) in a serious role (I think he rocked it!).  The movie is based on a real event that occurred on Sept 11, 2012 at the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya killing four Americans.  I will admit that near the end it did make me cry but I think it was a movie worth watching.  It also made me worry a little more about my Mom and Lynn going back east on their mission.

Saturday I woke up with a headache and my lowerback bugging me so the first half of the day I took some meds and took it easy catching up on TV while I did laundry.  Around 1 I got a text from my sister inviting me to come over and watch Hotel Transylvania 2 with her and the young kids.  I loved curing up on the couch with the kids and watching the movie while eating snacks that they picked out.  It is little moments like that I will treasure always with those kids!

Afterwards I went home and decided to take Thor on a walk, the first one of the year!  The sun was out and it just felt good to be outside!!  It also gave me time to work on his training and once he calmed down he did really good.

The rest of the evening was spent relaxing on the couch, watching the sun set,  putting heat on my dang back, and watching a little TV before heading to bed at 7:30 (ug, day shift).  Over all I don’t think I could have picked a better way to enjoy only have one day off.  Here is to a good week!
