Molly

Last year was a rollercoaster year with Molly.  She ended up in the vet multiple times due to injuries or illness.   She torn her ACL, had her eye sink in, started to have breathing problems, and I noticed new lumps growing on her which always makes my mind jump to cancer (thankfully none of them were).

I remember calling my friend crying one summer day shortly after her ACL injury.  She went outside to pee, her back legs collapsed and she stayed lying down to finish peeing.  I was sure I was going to have to put her down that day.  I have had Molly since she was a puppy.

She has been through so much with me including a cheating spouse, miscarriage, changing jobs, divorce, death of friends, moving 3 times, and feeling alone.  She knows how to bring me comfort and love just when I need it.  There have been many times as I lay in bed at night silently letting my tears  fall when she comes over,  quietly puts her head on my bed, and just sits there until she knows I am ok.

She is such a sweet dog who loves to cuddle and just wants to be with people.

Don’t get me wrong she can be a trouble maker and stubborn (just like me) at times, but overall she is a really good dog.

Somehow we made it through 2015 and Molly not only pulled through, she seemed to improve.   Her breathing got better, her eye is back to where it should be (even though her sight will never be the same), and she is limping less.  This last Friday she had her yearly vet appointment and for the first time in a long time I was not nervous about what the vet may say.

The vet was impressed and said he was really happy with how she looked.  All her lab work came back where it should be other than her bilirubin which was a little high.  He reminded me that Molly was a senior now and because of that I will always have to keep a good eye on her and watch for sudden changes in her health.   I almost danced out of the vet, I was so incredibly happy for good news on my sweet girl.

(Molly in the car right after the vet, I think we were both happy it went well!)

I am not sure what 2016 will bring but for now I will take the good news and keep loving my sweet, old girl.
